You didn't come this far to slow down

But something’s shifted, hasn’t it?

Maybe the stairs feel a little heavier than they used to.

Maybe you’ve caught yourself avoiding things you used to do without thinking — a hike, a grandkid on your lap, carrying your own groceries without wondering if your back will pay for it later.

Maybe you’ve been telling yourself you’ll “get back into it” for longer than you care to admit.

You’re not alone.

And more importantly — you’re not too late.

Hey, I’m Shane.

I’ve been coaching adults in Edmonton since 2011, with over 15,000 sessions completed and 15+ years of experience. Most of my clients are in their 50s, 60s and 70s. And the thing I hear most when someone walks in for the first time?

“I wasn’t sure this was even for me anymore.”

It is. It absolutely is.

I didn’t grow up as the athletic kid either.

I was picked last in gym class — every time, no exaggeration.

Fitness didn’t come naturally to me.

I had to learn it slowly, awkwardly and with a fair amount of stumbling around equipment I didn’t understand.

Which is exactly why I’m good at this.

I know what it feels like to walk into a gym and feel like you don’t belong there.

I know what it’s like to feel judged, overwhelmed or just plain unsure where to start.

And I know what it’s like to have someone tell you “don’t worry, nobody’s watching” — which, as we both know, helps absolutely zero percent.

Your feelings about fitness spaces are valid.

Your hesitation is valid.

And you deserve a trainer who actually gets that, not just one who says they do.

What Changes When We Work Together

My clients don’t train with me to look good in a magazine.

They train so they can: Carry groceries, luggage, grandchildren — without thinking twice
Get up off the floor without a production.
Walk further, stand longer and move through life without bracing for it.

Feel strong, capable and genuinely confident in their own body again.

That’s the work. Real, progressive, thoughtful strength training designed around your life — your health history, your goals, your pace.

No boot camp intensity.

No cookie-cutter programs.

No pressure to keep up with someone half your age.

Just consistent, honest training that compounds over time.

What Garry Did at 57 — And What It Means For You

Garry Pawliuk started working with me at 57. Waist at 38 inches, weighing 245 lbs, struggling to tie his shoes and dealing with a neuromuscular problem in his right leg.

He told me he’d been afraid a trainer would take one look at him and wonder why he even bothered showing up.

Four years later, he’d dropped 15+ lbs, lost two inches off his waist and hiked the Amalfi Coast — 15 to 25 kilometres a day.

His doctor was impressed.

More importantly, Garry felt like himself again.

Garry’s story isn’t unusual.

It’s just what happens when the right person shows up and does the work, with the right support.

How It Works

Every new client starts with a free consultation — no commitment, no pressure.

You come in, see the space, meet me in person, and we go through a short introductory session together. You get a real sense of what training with me actually feels like before you invest anything.

From there, I offer session packages ranging from $86–$103/session, depending on the package. You can view the full details [here].

Training is available:

  • One-on-one at Evolve Strength (downtown Edmonton)

  • In-home — individual or couples (I come to you)

  • Custom home programs (for when life gets in the way)

“I began my fitness journey training in a gym with a trainer at age 57... that was 4 years ago and now I am happy to report that I weigh less than 230 lbs, my waistline has gone down to 36 inches and best of all — I feel great.”

Garry P.

client since 2012

“Shane is that one in a million trainer that combines competence, caring and compassion.

Wherever Shane goes, I go. He is just that good.”

Sandra B.

client since 2012

“I look forward to my workouts with him. It is a time for laughter, but also hard work.

He knows how and when to push me enough.”

Sindy T.

client for 8 years
